Character Info◎ Character's Name: Soleil
◎ Character's Canon: Fire Emblem
◎ Character's Age: Unknown (late teens to early twenties)
◎ Canon Point: Revelations chapter
◎ Background/History: Fire Emblem Wiki ProfileNOTE: While Soleil’s father (Laslow) is static, there are 14 women that could potentially be her mother. For the sake of not making potential applicants feel pressured regarding my choice and due to my own indecisiveness, I’ll try to keep her mother ambiguous throughout the application and try to keep it ambiguous in Cerealia unless it becomes necessary to decide.
◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense? No.
◎ Personality:"But Soleil is her own woman—like a force of nature."Like Soleil’s namesake, she is warm and uncontrollable. Her own father admits as much and acknowledges that, unlike the other children, she escaped the safety of her Deeprealm on her own solely for the purpose of traveling the countryside helping others. Her charisma and optimism are so powerful that she became the leader of a band of mercenaries known for their positive attitude. This nature is immediately apparent to anyone who meets her, as she has no hesitation befriending strangers and speaking casually with others as though she has known them for some time.
The downside to that is that Soleil does nothing half-heartedly for better or worse. Her boisterous, open nature can overwhelm others, especially people that she has only just met, and she is not particularly skilled at reining her energy in. She is a natural passionate person and she is cranked up to eleven at most times. The benefit of this is that she is capable of keeping a positive outlook during even the grimmest and stressful of times, which benefits the morale of those around her. It takes a lot to hurt her mood, but the one thing that is assured to bring her down is accidentally hurting someone in her excitement.
Soleil has overwhelming confidence. She wants to be strong and wants to be cute, and she has no qualms letting others know she is both. This is not attempt to be arrogant, as she believes others should feel just as good about themselves as she does about herself. She enjoys pampering herself to become cuter and dedicates herself to becoming a stronger mercenary. Part of the latter is for the sake of being able to help others; as mentioned before, she travels the countryside performing good deeds and this habit sprouted from her wish to protect her father.
All of this is doubly true when she is dealing with women. While she is helpful and caring towards her male friends, Soleil is emotionally and physically attracted to women; she inherited a love of flirting from her father and she has no qualms flirting with any girl she meets. Several characters have acknowledged her skill at this, but her passion gets the better of her as in her excitement she has several times violated boundaries; after making this mistake with a few of her friends, she has developed much better self-control.
For the most part, Soleil is straightforward in that she wears her heart on her sleeve. She is immediately open with those she meets—especially with girls, as she believes the only way to treat girls is with honesty—so she does not have much in the way of hidden qualities. The only notable ones would be her total lack of skill with singing or dancing. Despite being from a family of excellent singers and dancers, she has absolutely no talent in either which is the only thing capable of embarrassing her. However, this is made up for by her skill with the sword, which became legendary after the war.
Due to growing up in the Deeprealms and away from most of her kingdom, Soleil is a bit sheltered. This is likely a contributing factor in her lack of shame as well as her tendency to forget social norms in the favor of simplistic practicality. For example, if she is uncomfortably worm and sweaty, she will take off her shirt in spite of being around others based on the logic that men do it and any woman who sees wouldn’t be seeing anything new being women themselves. She also has a habit of speaking very plainly to royalty like Forrest and Siegbert, the sons of the royal family.
While Soleil has a tendency to have a one-track mind and simple motivations, there are few who can compare to her honesty and strength of will. Even after the war ends, Soleil leaves home to travel the world helping others. In battle, she musters all her power for the sake of smiling to keep the morale up. She is a passionate young woman whose warmth occasionally burns others.
Soleil also adores cute animals. She has kitten posters and a blanket covered in rabbits.
◎ Powers/Abilities: Soleil is a Mercenary and a Hero, so almost all of her abilities focus on being a powerful fighter. She is exceptionally skilled with swords and capable with axes. She is well balanced in physical strength, speed, and durability. Ignoring what abilities she would acquire from her mother (as her mother is selected by the player) these are the types of skills she would possess:
- Sisterhood:
o +2 damage dealt and -2 damage received when supporting a female unit.
o Protecting girls motivates Soleil. There isn’t much else to be said.
- Good Fortune:
o May recover 20% of HP at the start of a turn.
o It is called ‘Stubborn’ in Japanese, so odds are this is just an indicator of exactly that: Mercenaries tend to be stubborn.
- Strong Riposte:
o When countering an enemy’s attack, strength +3.
o An indicator that Mercenaries tend to be skilled and calm, allowing them to easily retaliate against aggressive opponents.
- Sol:
o Heals the user by 50% of the damage dealt to the opponent.
o This is a strange one as there is no sensible explanation for why hitting someone with a sword would heal the wielder.
- Axebreaker:
o Increases avoid by 50% when the opponent is wielding an axe.
o Mercenaries are skilled against axe-users.

Samples◎ First-Person Sample: Test Drive Thread◎ Third-Person Sample: Soleil was a simple and optimistic person by her very nature, so even in the face of overwhelming culture shock she was able to adapt. Better than most, in fact. Denial may have played a role in that: she has refused to take any of the information she had been given so far as absolute truth and whatever she was incapable of understanding (which was quite a bit given how alien the technology and jargon was) was put out of mind totally. She lived in the here and now and, as always, she intended to make the best of things.
And make the best of things she was. If there was one thing she appreciated, it was pleasure. After all, why not? Fun that hurt no one was perfectly fine. The thought that there may be something to be ashamed of wouldn’t come to mind unless someone pointed it out to her. Even then, she would question why it was wrong to jump right in and take advantage of what was offered to them here in this world.
The only problem she encountered was figuring out just what to do. She wandered through the entertainment distinct. Many of the things offered were beyond her understanding; she was curious about things like cars and technology, but it would take quite some time for her to wrap her head around them. Instead, she excitedly tried to find something more her speed. Something she was used to and something that could give her a sense of normalcy. Even then, that was difficult: she was dubious about this ‘card’ she had received that supposedly contained money, so she was exercising some caution and not splurging in the marketplace. She ignored the arcades. Although she enjoyed noise and excitement, even she was overwhelmed as her brain tried to comprehend the flashing lights and music.
After some time wandering the district, Soleil began to lose steam. Even she was getting overwhelmed. There were so many new things to do, but the more she looked and looked the more she just…wanted to go home, find a quiet town, and take someone out to a quiet, quiet tea shop.
Eventually, she trudged her way out of the entertainment district with disappointment on her face. Even though she hadn’t actually taken advantage of anything, she looked tired. She shrugged and decided the shopping district might be more her pace, even though she was still hesitant to throw around money.
Her optimism was wavering at this point. She wondered to herself if the trip into the entertainment district had nothing to do with embracing a good time and instead was only an attempt to distract herself from the stress of being a fish out of water. Was she feeling lonely? She was so used to grinning and cheering no matter how she felt that it was hard for her to be sure how she truly felt. At this point, she doubted she would find anything that would seem remotely normal to her. Everything had buzzing lights and loud noises and buttons. Everything had buttons. All she wanted was to have some fun and get away from the negative thoughts creeping up on her.
It was then that she saw something out of the corner of her eye that made her double-take and trip over her own feet. Here in the shopping district, even with all the advanced nonsense everywhere, was what looked like an entirely normal tea shop. Soleil pressed her face against the front window to get a better look; she pinched herself to be sure she wasn’t dreaming. That was a tea shop that she would expect to see somewhere in Nohr.
And surely there was at least one cute customer…
Her energy returned one hundred and ten percent. With a squeal, she dashed into the shop. Even if she was only doing this to get her mind off of troublesome things, she was okay with that. Soleil had no problems accepting that she was too intimidated by the foreign things here to take advantage of them and only craved something familiar to comfort her.
